Governor's contingency funds subsidiary ledgers, 1959-1980.

Each year, the governor is appropriated funds to be used for the contingent expenses of the executive department and to be expended at the direction of the governor. This series consists of subsidiary ledgers documenting the expenditure of funds from the Governor's Mansion Fund (schedule SX-1-71), the Governor's Coastal Mansion Fund (schedule SX-1-70), the Governor's Controlled Contingency Fund (schedule SX-1-69), and the Governor's Emergency Fund (schedule SX-1-68). Expenditures from one or more funds may be included in each of the volumes in this series. Information in these ledgers includes total allotments, total disbursements, controlling accounts, vendor names, employee names, warrant number, date, and amount of expenditure. These records were created during the administrations of Governors James E. Folsom (1955-1959), John M. Patterson (1959-1963), George Corley Wallace (1963-1967 and 1971-1979), Lurleen Wallace (1967-1968), Albert P. Brewer (1968-1971) and Forrest Hood (Fob) James (1979-1983).
